18 Hostages Executed By 'Islamic State of Iraq'

Iraq, issued to jihadist forums on Saturday, March 3, 2007, the execution video of the eighteen captured employees of the Iraqi Ministry of Defense. The Islamic State had announced the capture of these individuals on Thursday, March 1, claiming it to be primarily in response to the rape accusations of a Sunni woman, Sabrin al-Janabi, towards Shi’ite security forces. In that prior message, two demands were made of the Iraqi government to secure the release of these men within a 24-hour period. The following day, the group issued a second statement, announcing that due to the refusal of the Iraqi government to negotiate for the release, instead being “arrogant”, the Shari’a Courts of the Islamic State of Iraq ordered the execution of Allah’s Orders on the captured employees.

The video opens with footage of the men blindfolded and sitting in rows, and a message is shown on-screen that is also dictated. Its words are similar to those of the two prior statements, but add that the Mujahideen rose to action after the appeal of the Emir of al-Qaeda in Iraq, Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, which he presented in an audio message addressing Sabrin. They add: “This operation is only a drop in the bucket, and what will come is more wicked and bitter, with the permission of Allah the Almighty.”

Following the message, a number of the captured men, blindfolded and bound, are shown shot repeatedly with pistols by the masked Mujahideen.

Also, the Islamic State of Iraq issued a statement today indicating that fourteen other employees of the Ministry of Interior were captured on Thursday, March 1, and “Allah’s Orders” were also executed upon them.

Mayfly Breeding Season

From the Wikipedia article:
Mayflies are insects which belong to the Order Ephemeroptera (from the Greek ephemeros = "short-lived", pteron = "wing", referring to the short life span of adults). They have been placed into an ancient group of insects termed the Paleoptera, which also contains the dragonflies and damselflies. They are aquatic insects whose immature stage (called naiad or, colloquially, nymph) usually lasts one year in fresh water. The adults are short-lived, from a few hours to a few days depending on the species. About 2,500 species are known worldwide, including about 630 species in North America. Common names for mayflies include "dayfly", "shadfly", "Canadian soldier", and "fishfly" [1].

The mayfly belongs to group 1 taxa, or pollution–sensitive animals. This means if mayflies are in or around the water, the water should be good quality, perhaps even good enough to drink without distilling or boiling.

Russian Scientist Stitches the Head of a Puppy onto a Larger Dog

From The Wikipedia Article:
"Vladimir Demikhov (1915 - 1998) was a Soviet scientist who did several transplantations in the 1930s and 1950's, such as the transplantation of a heart into an animal and a lung-heart replacement in an animal. He is also well-known for his transplantation of the heads of dogs. He conducted his dog head transplants during the 1950s, and this ultimately led to the head transplants in monkeys by Dr. Robert White, who was inspired by Demikhov's work. This inspired the aliens in Tim Burton's movie Mars Attacks! to transplant the head of Sarah Jessica Parker onto a dog and vice-versa."

Sleepaway Camp's Best Scenes by The B Movie Cutup

From the Wikipedia Article:
"The main character, Angela Baker (Felissa Rose), and her cousin Ricky (Jonathan Tiersten), are sent to summer camp one summer. Angela had come to live with Ricky and her Aunt Martha eight years earlier, after her father and her brother Peter were killed in a boating accident. Angela, a painfully shy 14-year-old, is bullied severely by most of the other campgoers and counselors at Camp Arawak. Her main foil is Judy (Karen Fields), a vain girl once friendly with Ricky but now snubbing him in favor of the older boys.

Soon people are being killed in bizarre ways, such as a youth being stung to death by bees from a hive thrown into a bathroom. In a nod to Psycho, a female counselor is stabbed in a shower stall. The murderer turns out to be Angela; however, it is later revealed that Angela was actually her brother Peter. The real Angela had died in the boating accident eight years ago, and Peter assumed her identity afterward. This was because Aunt Martha wanted a girl and chose to raise Peter as a girl, treating him as if he was Angela. Angela-Peter is last seen standing on the beach naked with the decapitated head of another camper at his/her feet.

In the commentary on the DVD, Hiltzik and Rose tease that perhaps Angela isn't the sole killer in the movie. In fact, the only real continuity error in the film involves the killing of campers at a tent site far enough away from the main camp that they took a car to get there in the same night that four other people were murdered.

Parasite's Best Scenes by The B Movie Cut Up

From the Wikipedia Article:
"It is the far future. After an atomic disaster the world is reduced to poverty. Instead of government, the America of this future is run by an organization called the "Merchants", who exploit the degenerate remains of society. The "Merchants" in order to keep control of the populous forced Dr. Paul Dean (Robert Glaudini) to create a new life form, a parasite that feeds on its host. Realizing the deadly potential of such a being, Dean escaped the merchants with the parasite, infecting himself in the process. Now on the run, he travels from town to town, studying the parasite so that he can find a way to destroy it, all the while keeping one step ahead of a "Merchant" named Wolf (James Davidson) that's hunting him. While resting in a town in the middle of the desert, he is attacked by a gang of hooligans (Cherie Currie, Freddy Moore, Natalie May, Joanelle Romero, Tom Villard) led by Ricus (Luca Bercovici), a former slave of the "Merchants". The gang steals the parasite, not realizing what it is and it infects one of the members. Meanwhile Paul befriends a pretty young lemon grower named Patrica Wells (Demi Moore) who promises to help him destroy the escaped parasite. Ricus, trying to save the life of his friend comes to Paul for help, only to be confronted by Wolf. Patrica, Paul, and Ricus manage to evade Wolf, but by the time they return the parasite has spread to another member. Not only has it spread, it has grown, into a fleshy worm with a mouthful of deadly teeth. After killing the parasite in Paul, the worm attacks Wolf and they blow him up."
